AI and Internationalisation in Teacher Education
The final conference "AI and Internationalisation in Teacher Education" marks the conclusion of the DAAD project Teaching Internationally aimed at promoting internationalisation in teacher training. The conference focuses on topics such as teaching concepts, writing skills, and testing and measuring knowledge progression. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is explored in depth.
The conference allows contributors to gain insights together and shape the future of teacher education. It aims to advance the internationalisation of teacher education with practical and innovative approaches.

Keynote
AI in Education – Lessons Learned & Future Vision
Prof. Dr. Malte Prieß (Kiel)
In this keynote, we highlight the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. We reflect on the use of AI, for example as an effective learning companion or structural assistant and outline challenges and approaches for its use in educational institutions. We also discuss how free, digital learning opportunities – often known as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) – can support the teaching of AI skills in various disciplines, including non-technical ones.
The aim of this keynote is to provide educational stakeholders with an informed perspective on the potential and limitations of AI in education and to outline ways in which we can shape the future of learning together.

This workshop, titled "Introduction & Application of AI in Education and Teaching Internationally," is designed to equip participants with a foundational understanding of AI and its practical applications in education. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into teacher education marks a significant shift in how educators are trained and supported throughout their careers. Participants will explore key AI concepts and application in teacher education . The workshop will showcase how AI can be used in language education field with the perspective of University of Languages and International Studies, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Through the case studies, participants will gain insights into the diverse ways AI is being integrated into educational systems worldwide, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges.

Generative AI: Prompt engineering - good prompts for studying and teaching

Prompt engineering is the process of formulating a prompt for an AI system so that it produces an output that closely matches your expectations. A well-formulated prompt is crucial to obtain relevant and useful results. The workshop is about different strategies and techniques to formulate effective prompts for different teaching and learning scenarios. We will try out how to prompt effectively.
The specialized class is for teachers who are interested in integrating generative AI into their classes and teaching practice.

In this workshop such worries shall be practically dispelled by testing low-threshold equipment in the form of the Catchbox audio system as well as the INSTA360 Link A.I. powered Webcam. Devices such as these allow for the easy establishment of international/-cultural projects that can involve larger learner groups across continents or analog audiences after digital presentations. Conversely physical presentations become authentically dynamic with tracking, zoom and whiteboard functions integrated into one webcam.
Throughout the workshop we shall discuss (your) possible user scenarios, potentials and the future of hybrid teaching in an international and school-related context!

The workshop will conclude with a discussion on the implications of these models for teaching, learning, and assessment. Join us to examine the potential and challenges GenAI poses in educational contexts.

This interactive session will highlight ethical considerations, including potential bias in AI, showcase real-world applications, and equip educators with tools to implement AI-driven solutions in their classrooms. Attendees will experience firsthand how AI can humanize the educational experience and foster a more supportive, responsive learning environment.
Our interactive activity will involve guiding the attendees in the process of creating a chatbot that gives personalized responses that they could use in their own classroom. We may provide them scenarios involving hypothetical students with questions they could type into their newly created chatbot to see how the chatbots respond to the hypothetical student.
