The University’s Research Strategy

The strategy consolidates both the interdisciplinary, interfaculty, and inter-institutional principles, as well as applied research. It emphasises unique selling points and is based on existing research strengths and the individual expertise of excellent researchers.

‘Environment & People in Transition - Challenges & Solutions’ is the research maxim of the University of Greifswald with three interfaculty and interacting research domains:

- Baltic Sea Region
- One Health
- Prevention

These three research domains are based on 12 interdisciplinary core topics. Bioeconomy I Community Medicine I Gender Studies I Infection & Inflammation I Rural Areas I Educational Research I Medical Humanities I Peatlands, Coasts & Oceans I Molecular & Individualised Medicine I Peripeties & Transformations I Plasma Physics I Environmental Change Digitalisation, research data management and artificial intelligence form an essential basis for any future-oriented research and are integrated in the same way as further efforts towards internationalisation and the approach of research-led teaching.
