Gender Equality at the University of Greifswald

As the central Gender Equality Officer, I am your contact for the topics of gender equality, gender-specific antidiscrimination and work-life balance. As the central Gender Equality Officer, I offer individual counselling as a matter of course. I am legally obliged to maintain confidentiality and the University of Greifswald has granted me the right to secrecy, allowing you to contact me with your concerns at any time.

Gender equality is a fundamental principle for cooperation between members of the university community working in research, teaching, studies and administration. Our University promotes gender equality not only through the use of gender-inclusive language, but also through its own programmes such as the Käthe Kluth Programme and the University of Greifswald's mentoring programmes, which specifically support young female academics. Coaching programmes for female academics are also on offer and implemented to further strengthen women in science. The Family Service fosters the family-friendliness of the University of Greifswald with a comprehensive range of counselling services and specific support measures (e.g. emergency childcare, babysitter pool, holiday camps).

We also offer members of the university support in the area of gender-specific antidiscrimination. We sensitise members of the university community with our ‘NO GO’ campaign.

I invite you to browse through these pages to find out more about our work. If you have any questions, my team and I will be happy to help you at any time.

Yours, Ruth Terodde
