Postgraduate Degree Ceremonies

In keeping with a long-standing tradition, the University of Greifswald awards academic degrees obtained through the successful completion of a doctorate or habilitation once a year during a festive event. The folders of the degrees bear the colour of the respective faculty.

The degrees are awarded by the Rector and the Dean of the respective faculty together in the historic Aula of the University. The ceremony is organised in turn by the five faculties, who also invite a keynote speaker. The University’s Society of Friends and Supporters traditionally awards doctoral prizes during the ceremony.
