The University Choir, Symphony Orchestra and the Big Band ensure a varied musical programme. With the Bach Week, the town is also home to a music festival of international importance.
The “Greifswald Bach Week” has been an institution in the cultural life of the town, district and Vorpommern region for 50 years. The “founding father”, Hans Pflugbeil, initiated the festival in 1945, and it has since become a permanent attraction for an ever increasing number of visitors in May/June of each year.
